Proptereā quod vocābulīs externīs sermōne Latīnō sine saltem aliquantulō mūtātiōnis, seu prōnūntiātūs seu ratiōnis scrībendī seu vōcis integrae mūtandae et novandae, ūtī nōbīs nōn licet, hunc indicem variōrum verbōrum ā mē acervātim collēctōrum afferō. Poēta enim Q. Horātius Flaccus in suā Arte Poēticā (v. 58) ait "licuit semperque licēbit" nōbīs nova nōmina novāre. Cui jūdiciō assentīmur. Attamen Rōmānōrum antīquōrum aureae aetātis (ab 100 a.C.n. ūsque ad 100 p.C.n. ferē) sevēriōrēs rēgulās novandārum vōcum assiduē assequī nōs oportet. Aemilius Springhetti in suō librō Īnstitūtiōnum Stilī Latīnī (1954) bene monuit quandō novanda nōmina licēret:

1. vel necessitās postulat. Cicerō Orat. c. 62 haec habet: "Neque enim esse possunt rēbus ignōtīs nōta nōmina, sed quum verba aut suāvitātis aut inōpiae causā trānsferre soleāmus, in omnibus hoc fit artibus, ut, quum id appellandum sit, quod propter rērum ignōrantiōnem ipsārum nūllum habuerit ante nōmen, necessitās cōgat aut novum facere verbum, aut ā similī mūtuārī"

2. vel suādet singulāris ūtilitās, e.g. Cic. 3 Dē Or. 38, 152 "ad illūstrandum atque exōrnandum orātiōnem" et "quae est poētārum licentia"

3. nōnnisi ā virīs ācrī jūdiciō praeditīs et linguae Latīnae perītissimīs exīstimārī

4. parcissimē novantur, ut ex dictīs cōnstat

5. ex optimō fonte dūcuntur, quī fōns Rōmānīs erat praesertim lingua Graeca, nec īnsolentius fīunt, sed ex analogiā cum aliīs vocābulīs ab optimīs scrīpttoribus fictīs et novātīs, ut vidēlicet parcant auribus et cōnsuētūdinī.

Quibus modīs veterēs Rōmānī scrīptōrēs rēs novās significābant:

1. vel per circuitiōnem verbōrum seu circumlocūtiōnem — v.g. "Gūglō quaerere" = to google, "auctor Tubulī " = YouTuber

2. vel per analogiam significātiōnis propriae, i.e. propriam alicuius vocābulī significātiōnem īnflectendō ad aliquid simile exprimendum, e.g. "Salūtātōrium"

3. vel per analogiam significātiōnis trānslātae, i.e. sēnsum vocābulī trānsferendō ad aliud quid signficandum, quod tantum per trānslātiōnem simile sit, e.g. "Pīpiātōrium"

4. vel per verbōrum novātiōnem, i.e. nova verba Latīna findendō, secundum tamen indolem et lēgēs sermōnis Latīnī. Quod quattuor ferē modī fīēbat:

- imitātiōne seu per onomatopoeiam

- dērīvātiōne analogicā, e.g. "Nūntiātōrium", "Discordia", "Crepitōrium"

- compositiōne analogicā ex vōcibus prīmitīvīs, e.g. "Prosōpobilium"

- mūtuātiōne ex aliā linguā, e.g. "Skȳpē", "Gūglum"

Nequidem possumus, ut mōre vernaculōrum saepius fit, verbīs aliēnārum linguārum vellet nōllet sine mūtātiōne propriā in sermōne nostrō ūtī; Anglī loquuntur dē résumé et momentum, Italī dīcunt Facebook et jazz. Aemilius īdem Springhetti nōs monet neologismōs nostrōs semper referendōs in cāsū "cum terminātiōne et orthographiā Latīnā quantum fierī potest, ut prōnūntiandī ratiō quam exāctissimme referātur." Hāc ipsā dē causā, ut in pūriōrem Latīnitātem colendam animōs intendāmus, "Facebook," "Twitter," "Skype" nōn licet scrībere et eōdem tempore Anglicō mōre prōnūntiāre sed saltem "Feisbuc" item "Tviter" et "Scaep" scrībere, quae prae turpitūdine litterārum repente respuimus; idcircō multō magis exīstimāmus "Prosōpobiblium," Pīpiātōrium" — atque etiam "Skȳpē" sed Latīnissimē prōnūntiandum, cuius vōcis sonī in "Scyllē" et "syncopē" reperīrī possunt.

Fruāminī igitur ut spērō sequentem indicem, cui nova nōmina novanda etiam in futūrō addam.
